Sun is the biggest source of energy which has been active for billions of years. Solar heating has been used for many years but solar electricity is fairly new. It has tremendous amounts of benefits and is a wise idea to generate electricity from the biggest source in our solar system.
So how does it works?
* Solar panels can be installed on the roof of the home.
* They don’t need batteries to operate. As long as there is enough sunlight, the panels will be generating electricity.
* The sun gives of approximately 1,000 watts of energy per square meter on the earth’s surface. By using the energy, we would have enough electricity for our needs and the best part about it is that, it’s free.
* Solar panels are made of solar cells. These solar cells are photovoltaic cells.
* Photovoltaic cells are made of semi-conductor materials such as silicon.
* When light strikes these cells, certain portion of it is absorbed by semi-conductor material. The electrons get loose and start flowing. This flow creates a current and metal conductors are placed to draw the current. The greater the current, more power will be produced.
It is a bit expensive to make use of these panels but if you can afford, it’s worth it. Many studies are being done to bring it to a more affordable level where everyone will be able to enjoy it’s benefits. This technology has an extremely bright future as now the world is beginning to realize the true potential and power of solar energy. The universe has immense amount of resources available for us and it’s only up to us how we can harness and make use of these resources.
