A bedroom should be a cozy and comfortable sanctuary whether you come home after a tired day at work or school. Since teens spends most of their time in their rooms, you can decorate the room while keeping the following things in mind.
Color – Color plays a vital role in the transformation of any room. Think about a theme which your teen might like. May be he/she has a preference for certain color. For instance, if your teen likes a darker shade, you can offset the effect by using lighter shade for the bedding and curtains.
Furniture – Contemporary, clean lines and light weight furniture works well in teens room as that will not create a cramped and congested feel to the room. With nice color and clean lines, your teen is sure to love the room. You can opt for a lighter color for the furniture such as white or birch and if you want something darker, black/brown color is pretty hot these days.
You can add a desk in your teens room for his/her computer and also for doing homework. A desk with a built in drawer can also help store things.
Lighting – If not all, majority of teens like to study in their rooms whether it be laying on the bed , on the floor or studying on the desk. Make sure there is good task lighting in the room. You can put a lamp on the desk since your teen will be using computer or studying there anyways.
Wall Accessories – Pictures of family and friends is a good way to accessorize the wall. May be pictures of the child growing up, can be an interesting elements as well. You can display any prizes , medals that your child may have received over the years. Shelves will work well for this purpose.
Storage – Storage is a most common problem in any household. It’s even more with teens , since they have their personal and private space in their room. From clothes to Cd’s ,they say that they need more storage for their things. Cabinets and walk-in-closets can solve the problem of less storage space.
